Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim: Character, Leadership and the Ethos of Command

Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim: Character, Leadership and the Ethos of Command tells the story of a Nigerian naval officer whose four-decade career culminated in his appointment as Chief of the Defence Staff, the highest military office in the Nigerian Armed Forces. Ibrahim began his military life as a boy soldier at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria, before earning a place at the Nigerian Defence Academy and being commissioned into the Navy. A navigation and direction specialist trained with the Royal and Indian navies, he went on to command Nigerian Naval Ships at sea and later served in senior posts including Chief of Administration, Chief of Training and Operations, and Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command.

He served as Chief of the Naval Staff from 2010 to 2012, and as Chief of the Defence Staff from 2012 to 2014. He was only the second naval officer to rise to Chief of Defence Staff in Nigeria's history. The book follows this rise from cadet to command, exploring the discipline, judgement and quiet conviction that shaped a career built without shortcuts. Since retirement, Ibrahim has continued to speak on national service, urging that experience, mentorship and the values of integrity and loyalty remain a soldier's lasting legacy long after the uniform comes off.
